The Brief

This website was created as a redesign of a site that was made years prior. Although this was a project for school, I decided to create a site for a real client, instead of a fictional one as I have been doing for my other projects. With this site, I wanted to make it as simple as possible while at the same time giving more information for the users who may want it.

Challenges

Prior to building this website, it used to take me weeks, or months to finish a project. For this project, I was given a week to finish coding the website. That felt like a daunting task. However, the class thought me to change my workflow considerably, focusing on planning and user experience, instead of giving all of my focus to the coding. Thus the project did not become as hard as I originally thought.

Lessons

I learned the importance of proper planning when I tackled this project. Before working on this project, I thought that website design was all about coding. In truth, however, there is more planning involved. Who are my users? How will they navigate the site? Colors and fonts? Images? Text copy? Layout? When I had these information in hand prior to coding, the entire process worked much smoother and efficient.

Thank you!

Thank you for thinking about reaching out to me. However, as I mentioned in my introduction and description of myself, I am not taking in any work because I have decided to volunteer full time, something that I have dreamed of doing ever since I was a small kid. I do apologize for the inconvenience. I hope you can find another website designer.

Although I am not taking any work, this website is still here as a way for me to practice and because website design has also become a hobby for me. This section of the site still exists to demonstrate a modal, where an overlay covers over the website without affecting usability of the rest of the website. If you are a website designer, please free to analyze my code as you wish as an inspiration.
